My favorite Christmas song!... zat you santa claus?

zat you santa claus By Louis Armstrong

'Zat you, Santa Claus?

Gifts I'm preparin'
For some Christmas sharin'
But I pause because
Hangin' my stockin'
I can hear a knockin'
'Zat you, Santa Claus

Sure is dark out
Not the slighest spark out
Pardon my clackin' jaws
Uh, who there
Who is it
Uh, stoppin' for a visit
'Zat you, Santa Claus

Are you bringin' a present for me
Something pleasantly pleasant for me
That's what I've been waitin' for
Would you mind slippin' it under the door

Four winds are howlin'
Or maybe that be growlin'
My legs feel like straws
Oh my, my, me, my
Kindly would you reply
'Zat you, Santa Claus
Yeah

Oh hangin' my stockin'
I can hear a knockin'
'Zat you, Santa Claus

Yeah, say now
Hey there, who is it
Stoppin' for a visit
'Zat you, Santa Claus

Whoa there Santa you gave me a scare
Now stop teasin' 'cause I know you're there
We don't believe in no goblins today
But I can't explain why I'm shakin' this way

Well I see old Santa in the keyhole
I'll give to the cause
One peek and I'll try there
Uh-oh there's an eye there
'Zat you, Santa Claus

Please, please
I pity my knees
Say that's you Santa Claus
That's him alright

I received some photos this morning from the “Hollywood Halloween” Benifit October 18, 2008.
Children’s arts programming for the Performing Arts Association, the Robidoux Resident Theatre and the Saint Joseph Symphony got a boost recently from a Hollywood Halloween benefit that raised $13,000.
I donated a “Classic Monsters” Halloween tree, Bobbie Cronk purchased the tree in a silent auction. Thank you Bobbie!

I have one more tree donation this year for the Saint Joseph Downtown Association... I'll post photos on Friday.

Off to my studio to sculpt! Bugs & Hisses

Sad news and a fresh start

It is with great sadness to announcing I’m stepping down as the leader and Member of EHAG Eclectic Halloween Artist Group. I'm leaving due to creative differences, EHAG has become a wonderful group of Halloween folk artists . . . I just don’t fit into a folk art group. I have always loved the macabre, quirky, ghoulish, creepy and sometimes a little morbid dark humor and art.

I wish EHAG members all the best and I know with their new leadership they will grow into a bigger and better Halloween artist group. We will probably see them next year in a major magazine! Visit the EHAG artist link on my blog to view all the EHAG artist Halloween art news.

I will still be working every day in my Halloween studio creating some crazy doll or ornament and I hope to start selling on my Etsy site. Next year will be GREAT! I already have designs in my head and will be marketing my creepy goodies to some great little shops in the Kansas City area. I have been turned down three times by Dept. 56 as a designer . . . Maybe that’s a good thing! So I will keep sculpting my one of a kind Halloween goodies with just a touch of more creepy added to them.

FYI: For a very limited time I will be creating Holiday Ornaments and listing them as "Buy it now" on eBay. Watch for more unique OOAK Holiday ornaments and gifts designed by me.

Window Displays and EHAG giveaway

Before I became a full time artist, I was a “Visual Merchandiser” for major Mall developers. I quit my merchandising job in 1998 and started sculpting full time.
I have been helping out a friend with decorating some OLD vintage Display windows in Downtown Saint Joseph, Missouri. Here are some photos of the windows. I really enjoyed getting to working in the windows, but they sure don’t have wonderful windows like them anymore!
Because of my new puppy Elvira (The destroyer) I cannot decorate my house for Halloween so decorating the windows filled my void!
Happy Halloween to ALL!

P.S.
Go to our EHAG art blog too win some Halloween goodied...the link is on my blog.
Good luck!

My Puppy Elvira had OCD

My Poor little puppy Elvira (7 months old and 55#)had surgery on her shoulder yesterday! She is so very sore and cries a lot, BUT we do have her on pain meds. I thought she just had growing pains, but after the vet visit and x-rays she was diagnosed with OCD:

What is osteochondrosis (OCD)?
Osteochondrosis (also known as OCD) is a common, painful disease in dogs. It is characterized by an abnormality in the cartilage-to-bone transformation. As a result, cartilage and bone fragments may break off into the joint space. Osteochondrosis is not a form of arthritis, however, it often leads to arthritis. Larger breeds of dog have a genetic predisposition towards the condition, which results from rapid growth. (The pain from osteochondrosis is similar to the “growing pains” experienced by adolescents.)

A wonderful Day with a Wonderful friend!

Feeling like Christmas!

I spent the day with my good friend Diane Houlk, the founder of The Puppetry Arts Institute. We visited a very cool shop named “With a French Accent” in the historic Corbin Mill. The shop was WONDERFUL!! The merchandising is outstanding!! I took a photo of Diane by the Santa display and also a wonderful French puppet theater from Loyon, France that the PAI hopes to add to our collection.
Enjoy the photos!

My Favorite October song "Moondance" by Van Morrison

Well, its a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
neath the cover of october skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And Im trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
And all the nights magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Chorus:
Can I just have one a more moondance with you, my love
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

Well, I wanna make love to you tonight
I cant wait til the morning has come
And I know that the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that youre never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true, dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that you cant hide

Chorus

Repeat 1st verse

One more moondance with you in the moonlight
On a magic night
La, la, la, la in the moonlight
On a magic night
Cant I just have one more dance with you my love

Favorite Halloween Radio station

http://www.neverendingwonder.com/weirdsville.htm

I just LOVE this fun internet radio station!!! I listen to it while I'm sculpting in my studio. It not only plays fun Halloween music but also fun comedy recodings like "Chicken Heart" by Bill Cosby.

All October we're playing the great Halloween comedy hits like Monster Mash (would you believe SIX versions?), Purple People Eater, Ghostbusters, Will Smith, Elvira, The Blob, Werewolves From London, Weird Al, and all the rest- along with some howlingly funny Halloween comedy bits!

Try it while your decorating you home for Halloween!!!

EHAG creative Challenge on eBay

PLEASE check out the EHAG groups (Eclectic Halloween Artist Group) on eBay. We are a group of 71 members who LOVE Halloween year round! This months creative Challenge was "Halloween Carnival" Our member Joee (Cartbeforthehorse) created this GREAT banner for us to use in our auctions. The challenge starts Friday August 15th!!!

I designed a "Carnival of Ghosts" Halloween tree. Using all the bright carnival colors in my hand sculpted ghosts. the tree has tiny orange lights that add to the fun look. I also created some carnival "Bling" by creating ornaments out of vintage crystal beads. I think this wonderful poem describes the tree:

Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees, "Tonight is Halloween!"

Please Adopt Black dogs!

“To appreciate a diamond, the surface must be pierced to release the dazzling display of color that can come from its heart; but to appreciate the pearl, the eye must simply gaze upon its surface to behold its soft color and peaceful beauty". ~Alain Boucheron~
